ANDREW
JOHNSON.
Partly Printed Document Signed as President, Washington, DC, 19 February
1866. 1 page, 14" x 17".
This attractive
document appoints Wickham S. Havens the collector of customs in Sag
Harbor, New York. The document has a small vignette at the top of an
eagle standing on a rock in the ocean, its wings spread as if about
to take flight. Andrew Johnson has signed at the lower right, and his
signature is dark and clear. The document is countersigned at the bottom
left by Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch.
Some minor
fold breaks have been expertly repaired on the verso. The overall appearance
of the document is fine. $950.00
