An attractive
sepia photo of Thomas Edison, the American inventor whose creations
included the incandescent electric light, the phonograph, and the microphone.
Edison
is shown here in his later years in a waist-length pose. White-haired,
wearing a three-piece suit and a bow tie, he looks directly at the camera.
The photo measures 9½" x 7" overall, and in the lower
white border, he has inscribed the piece, "To Gus Ruffer Thos
A. Edison."
