A warm letter from John D. Rockefeller, the American industrialist and
philanthropist who founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870 and who
dominated the oil business until his retirement in 1911. Rockefeller,
who would live to the age of 97, had just turned 86 when he wrote this
letter from his Kijkuit estate in New York.
He thanks his correspondents for “your kind message of congratulation
on my eighty-sixth birthday. Be assured of my appreciation.”
He then adds, “I send kindest regards and every best wish
for you both and each of your dear ones.” He has signed with
a large, dark full signature, “John D. Rockefeller.”
The
letter is in fine condition. $950.00
